Real-Time Updates

Formation Lap Period

The starting lap has started.

Track Information

We have nineteen laps of the longest circuit in F1, David Croft reminds us.

Final Moments

The last moments has begun.

Racer Positions

One point in Verstappen's advantage: his fellow driver Tsunoda is ahead of him by one place. He is unlikely to challenge Red Bull's lead driver.

Media Conversations

Sky speaking with Sky currently: the analyst is at the Mercedes team.

Karun Chandhok is jumping ahead to 2026, interviewing Adrian Newey about his stepping up to the team lead role.

Grid Details

Just 16 cars on the grid. This followed another poor grid-setting session for the driver: after coming 20th and last in the previous race, leading to an eighth position in the main race, he failed to make it out of the first qualifying segment again on Friday. The team have consequently made changes to his car configuration and so he begins from the starting area.

Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and the Alpine pair of Pierre Gasly and Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Racer Statements

"We'll use the experience for tomorrow," states Isack Hadjar, 11th on the grid. There will be plenty of learning.

Team Standings

It's not all about the drivers' title: The team have dominated the team championship but Mercedes, with a 40-point lead over their rivals, are aiming to secure the runner-up position this weekend. George Russell can help them achieve that from the front row, and Antonelli will start just behind Verstappen.

Past Performance

Oscar Piastri was victorious then – as he managed last year, as well. McLaren's Australian is attempting a hat-trick.

Short Race Importance

Right, approximately twenty minutes to go until the short race gets under way. Barring disaster, it's greatest value is as a preview of what is to come, instead of highly important in its own right, with just eight championship points available to the victor. Mind you, second place in this race was sufficient for the driver to claim the title two years ago.

Max Verstappen claimed the championship following his teammate's accident of the short race.
